Dallas, TX – About 100 people gathered together at Lake Cliff Park in Dallas, April 29, to celebrate International Workers Day. The organizations present included, Freedom Road Socialist Organization, Party for Socialism and Liberation, Solidarity, Democratic Socialists of America, Trans Pride Initiative, Texas Equal Access Fund, North Texas Dream Team, AFL-CIO and the Central Labor Council.

Each of the organizations spoke at the celebration about topics that ranged from teachers’ strikes to the history of the Communist Party in Dallas. Cassandra Swart of the Freedom Road Socialist Organization talked about the importance of opposing war, stating “War is our enemy, war has always been our enemy, and will always be our enemy. Unless we are fools, we will fight war every time.”

The speeches were followed by musical performances by Ditch Prince, and a blues rock trio. The event also featured a cookout.
