Milwaukee, WI - Over 60 people demonstrated here May 15 to commemorate Al-Nakba at a busy intersection downtown.

Between 1947 and 1949, Zionist forces forcibly expelled over 800,000 Palestinians from their homeland, destroying hundreds of Palestinian villages and massacring Palestinian men, women and children. This is known to Palestinians as Al-Nakba which means, The Catastrophe in Arabic.

Today, Al-Nakba continues as Israel expands its occupation and ethnic cleansing of Palestine. Protesters demanded the right of return for millions of Palestinian refugees and their descendants.

The rally was organized by the Milwaukee Palestine Solidarity Coalition and sponsored by Students for Justice in Palestine - Marquette, Milwaukee Anti-War Committee, Milwaukee Jewish Voice for Peace, Friends of Palestine, American Muslims for Palestine and the U.S. Palestinian Community Network - Milwaukee.
