Once again, Israel is launching a criminal attack on the people of Gaza. On Nov.14, Israeli warplanes and drones began a ferocious bombardment, killing little kids and a prominent Palestinian freedom fighter, Ahmed Al-Jaabari. Buildings are burning in Gaza City. Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, along with other Israeli officials, say this is just the beginning. And, it needs to be said, the White House has the blood of Palestine on its hands.
Israel’s crimes are made possible by the billions of dollars of aid given by the U.S. government. The planes that drop the bombs are made in the U.S.A. The same goes for cluster bombs and the other weapons of death and destruction that Israel uses.
Last week, Israel attacked Syria from the occupied Golan Heights. On Oct. 24, Israel bombed Sudan. Israel is threatening Iran. On a daily basis Israel kills Palestinians - like the 13-year old Palestinian boy who was murdered while playing soccer a couple of days ago. This is what the U.S. government is supporting in the Middle East. Some people wonder why “Palestinians are mad at the U.S.” Well, they have a right to be angry. And they are right to resist.
The U.S. government backs Israel as a means to dominate the Middle East. The U.S. supplies weapons and money to the Zionists. Adding insult to injury, the U.S. lies about who is who and what is what by labeling freedom fighters as “terrorists.” Palestinian groups like Hamas and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine are doing the right thing by standing up to the attacks and Gaza and struggling to free Palestine from occupation.
In cities across the U.S., protests are being organized to oppose the war on Gaza. Everyone who cares about justice should make it a priority to join them. We should insist that all U.S. aid to Israel end now. Palestine needs our solidarity. We cannot remain silent. We need to stand with those who resist Zionism, imperialism and reaction.
