Milwaukee, WI - On June 8, representatives of Students for a Democratic Society, Freedom Road Socialist Organization and the Nation of Islam held a panel discussion on the current conflict in Libya.

Mike Gold, speaking on behalf of Students for a Democratic Society, said, "SDS has a long history of opposing foreign wars. It was founded in the 1960s during the Vietnam War and took a strong position at that time. SDS was refounded in 2006 surrounding the war in Iraq. Libya is no different."

"Qaddafi represents a force in clear opposition to U.S. imperialism," said Chance Zombor, the panelist representing Freedom Road Socialist Organization. "Those that stand against increased U.S. domination of oppressed nations should take a stand and oppose U.S. and NATO attacks on Libyan soil."

Minister William Muhammad, speaking for the Nation of Islam, said, "Obama has a lot of promise, but is being taken advantage of by warmongers and advisers."

According to Minister William Muhammad, regime change in Libya would topple services that are crucial to the Libyan people's standard of living, such as access to health care and housing.
