On Sunday, Feb. 19, a standing-room only crowd of more than 700 packed the San Jose Day of Remembrance event. Every year the San Jose Nihonmachi Outreach Committee (NOC) organizes this event to commemorate Executive Order 9066. Executive Order 9066 paved the way for the incarceration of 120,000 Japanese Americans in concentration camps during World War II.

On Tuesday, Feb 14, more than 20 students at the University of South Florida (USF) gathered to demand that the administration bring Iranian student Mehdi Zeyghami home. The rally, which began at 12 noon, marked the beginning of Tampa Bay Students for a Democratic Society’s (SDS) new campaign: “Sanctuary for All.”

The University of Utah (U of U) chapter of Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) staged a rally in the crowded student union cafeteria to demand a sanctuary campus. On Jan. 28, the day after President Trump signed the executive order to restrict Muslims from seven countries from entering the U.S., reports came from the John F. Roughly 3000 people demonstrated against Trump's agenda, Nov. 10. The event was organized by a coalition of student, worker and community organizations. Protesters gathered at the Wallace F. Bennett Federal Building. The crowd chanted, “Racist, sexist, anti-gay, Donald Trump go away!” and “Liberation not deportation!” Several speakers representing various activist organizations in the valley spoke urging opposition to Trump's agenda.
