Salt Lake City, UT - It’s not every day that student activists crash birthday parties, but that is exactly what happened on June 14 at Salt Lake City Community College.

Representatives of the U.S. Army came to the school to celebrate the Army’s ‘birthday.’ Three representatives, including a uniformed soldier, set up a table to distribute cake in an attempt to recruit students. Five student activists were there too, distributing fliers with sobering statistics about the military, including the fact that more soldiers die from suicide than die in combat.

Reactions from the crowed ranged from supportive to angry. The Army representatives distributed their cake and left early.
