Madison, WI – Massive protests are expected here, March 12. Tens of thousands of workers, students and community members are expected to converge on the state capitol Saturday afternoon. Buses have been chartered from across the state.
On March 11, Governor Scott Walker signed into law union busting legislation that strips public employees of their collective bargaining rights.
A student march is being organized by Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) from the Library Mall at 11:00 a.m. to meet up with thousands of workers outside the capitol.
The rally at the capitol is scheduled to begin at 2 pm. Musicians will perform between 2-3 pm, and speeches will start at 3pm.

Where's the TV coverage?
I had to search high and low to find coverage on FreeSpeech TV and the coverage was not good. THEIR MESSAGE (the big-money Republicans) is all that's getting out there....If you don't know about MSNBC or Free Speech TV, all that you get bombarded with is lies. The fight ahead is bigger than collective bargaining. We need to get the information out of their hands, too. Let's Fight!!!
Overshadowed, I agree. But
Overshadowed, I agree.
But this is far from over. Are you so afraid your side is wrong?
The law has passed both
The law has passed both houses and has been signed. I think that’s it. The protesters won’t be able to change anything about the current situation. What’s more, the protest is going to be overshadowed by the reports of the disaster in Japan.
to workers everywhere
walker is nothing more than a punck for the big greedy multi corps he proved that in the kockh brothers phone call he will try anything for his own He took the 5 picies of silver I say enough is enough when dose GREED STOP
Where's Obama?
Where's Obama? Didn't he say "If American workers are being denied their right to organize and collectively bargain when I'm in the White House, I'll put on a comfortable pair of shoes myself," Obama said at a speech in 2007. "I'll walk on that picket line with you as president of the United States of America because workers deserve to know that somebody is standing in their corner."
Why don't we all send him a pair of shoes?
shut down
As a seventy five year old great grandmother I fully support the following:
1. shut down all public schools
2. shut down all colleges
3.shut down all hospitals
4. shut down all nursing homes
5.. shut down all police departments
6. shut down all fire departments
Since Walker has such low esteem for these working people lets live up to his expectations.
Lets let the wealthy who have never paid their fair share of taxes do all the work at all these places and
see how they like the deal.

Stay strong Madison, WI!
You have galvanized workers across the nation. You are all amazing, courageous people who need to know the entire world IS watching. We may not get to hear the latest on U.S. corporate-owned network news but your story continues to be told by all alternative media--and networks around the world!
FIGHT IGNORANCE WITH FACTS!
The top 1% owns 43% of the wealth; the next 4% owns 29% of the wealth. THE BOTTOM 80% SHARE ONLY 7% OF THE FINANCIAL WEALTH.
THAT'S INSANE!
Republicans are pitting workers in that 80% against each other. The poorest are meant to pay so the richest can become richer.
There's a great pie chart on Flickr. Go to:

Click on "Download" and print it out and pass it on!
I've been leaving copies in restaurant booths, public restrooms, waiting rooms, shopping carts, etc.
When I quote the wealth distribution figures to people, they don't believe me. When I prove it to them, they are shocked.
We need to get this information out, and since the media isn't going to do it, we have to do it ourselves.
Stay the Course!
Even if the media is still on the quake/tsunami that's ok. Keep up the fight, turn up the heat, stay the course. Keep the pressure on and do not let up. Take it all the way to the ballot box. I'm in Nevada and I am watching and searching for any and everything on what's happening in Wisconsin! The quake/tsunami hasn't really distracted me...my eyes are on Wisconsin! Keep it up!
What the former teacher wrote
What the former teacher wrote is very true. DO NOT WAIT for the elections next year. Since Scott Walker didn't play by the rules and broke the open meeting laws why should we the people abide by the rules. Recall him now and all the other Republican senators and show then that this will not stand. It is unlawful and needs to be corrected.
Quake is screwing up the coverage in Wisconsin
The Republicans gotta love the Japan Quake, because the media has totally stopped their coverage in Wisconsin. This is a travesty to say the least. What is happening this minute in Madison is a major event in our history. Instead the media is interviewing structural engineers talking about the best way to build in earthquake areas. They need to focus on Madison, not Japan. I am so sorry about what happened in Japan, but we need to re-focus our coverage.
attack on unions
I watch all this unfold and a part of me cannot believe it. In Wisconsin?! We were known for unions getting started. We take pride in being hard workers and having a good work ethic. This is our reward? It appears big money has bought the GOP. Moderate Republicans, if there are any left, it is time to take back your party.
As for Scott Walker and those of his ilk, we need to recall them now; DO NOT wait for the elections next year. He is willing to sacrifice the future of our children for the bottom line of big corporations. And what do you think he is doing to the future of teaching? What college student will want to work that hard and invest so much in education for that kind of reward? With a college degree they can go to industry and earn so much more. I have known too many teachers who left the job they loved because they could no longer afford to support their families on that pay, when they were offered more pay & respect for their efforts and talents.
I am a very saddened, former teacher.
Atrocities
My heart is with you, stand strong brothers and sisters. A people united can never be defeated. Economic justice is as much a right as your right to free speech. Persevere. Peace!
thank you all
I live in madison and am a union member at Oscar Mayer. I thank you all who made the trip here to participate in the protests, esp. those from out of state. I attended several of the protests, but have been ill since the second and have been confined to home, haven't been able to even work. My Dr. advised me not to go to the protests today, but it is too important, and I will be there, perhaps not for more than an hour or so, but as long as I can. This situation is what happens when you allow the gop to distract and divide us with fear and envy. You have to vote, and educate yourself to see through the lies.
March 12 protests
I live many states away, but drove 13 hours, 2 wks ago to take part in Wisconsin's stand for sanity and protection of workers' rights. I too am sad not be unable to come there today. Hang on and keep up this fight. I am with those of you who are trying to keep the population's top 1% from eating up still more of the remaining 10% of USA's wealth left to us. To Jim: The national media is keeping a big lid on Wisconsin these days, but that's not surprising, is it?
Scooter, New York is watching
Scooter,
New York is watching and this is know way to be treating your workers. It has to tell you something if you cant walk through the front doors of your own capital without being scared. Keep it up Wisconsin workers. Walker has a rather thick head. Your Union brothers are heading your way today.
Keep the fight up!
I live in Colorado, and I just cannot be there with you all in Wisconsin. Please keep up this protest because if you do not, this nation will be run bythe Repulicans, and the corporatioons and the rich.
Please "Stay the Course"
DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THIS
DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THIS RALLY WILL BE ON TELEVISION I SURE HOPE SO THE WHOLE WORLD IS WATCHING WE GOT TO UNDO THIS PLEASE!!
