Massive May Day march for immigrant rights in Chicago

Chicago, IL - 100,000 came out in force to march from Union Park to Daley Plaza in the Loop. Speaker after speaker denounced the apartheid-type legislation in Arizona. Youth were a major part of this demonstration.

Afterward, Fight Back! newspaper held a May Day event of over 100 people, showcasing struggles in immigrant rights, labor and the student movement. Jess Perez of the Immigrant Youth Justice League said, “65,000 undocumented students graduate every year from high school,” noting that the struggle for accessible education is part and parcel of the immigrant rights movement.
