Holiday Greetings to U.S.-Jailed Colombian Revolutionary
The National Committee to Free Ricardo Palmera issued a holiday appeal for progressive people to send season’s greetings to the Colombian revolutionary jailed in the U.S.
The appeal by Committee leader Tom Burke stated, “As the holiday season is here, we urge you to give your support and solidarity to one of the most important political prisoners in the United States today - Ricardo Palmera. Palmera, a leader of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, has devoted his entire life to bettering the lot of the oppressed. As a result, he was kidnapped by the Bush administration and is now being held under cruel conditions in a prison outside of Washington D.C.”
The editors and staff of Fight Back! responded by sending Palmera a greeting card which read in part: “On behalf of the staff and editors of the newspaper ¡Lucha y Resiste! (Fight Back!), we send you our warmest holiday greetings. Our newspaper has worked to publicize your case and demand your freedom. We will continue to do so over the next year.”
